Mistakes of Those Fasting.
أخْطَاء الصَّائِمِينَ
1. Fasting Apparently without doing it Internally.
It came in Saheeh Bukhari (1) from the Hadeeth of Abū Hurayrah رضى الله عنه that the Messenger of Allaah صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said:
" مَنْ لَمْ يَدَعْ قَوْلَ الزُّورِ وَالْعَمَلَ بِهِ فَلَيْسَ لِلَّهِ حَاجَةٌ فِي أَنْ يَدَعَ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ ".
"Whoever doesnt leave off false speech and evil actions with it, then Allaah is not in need of his leaving off his food and drink."
Commentary:
What he means by his Statement "Az-Zūr" (fasle speech): Is falsehood, thus sins from statements and actions enter into it.
The hadeeth points that the intention behind Fasting is not merely prohibition from things that vitiates fast, rather what's solely intended behind fast is to acquire Taqwaa:
{ كُتِبَ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَتَّقُونَ }
Observing As-Sawm (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you will acquire Taqwaa. [Surah Al-Baqarah: 183].
And the word la'ala (Perhaps) here is for reason ie for the sake of attaining Taqwaa.
